King Fresh Produce has acquired the license to market the Farmington Fresh, Hy-Flyer, and Mary Ellen cherry labels in an agreement with Stockton, California-based Farmington Fresh Sales, LLC. As a result, King Fresh will be offering early California Cherries to its customers for the upcoming 2014 season, along with its current program of year round Table Grapes, Tree Fruit, Pomegranates, Berries, and Citrus, according to a press release.

In addition, King Fresh will be installing state-of-the-art Cherry equipment at its 50,000 square foot packing house and cold storage location near Kingsburg, California.

“There is a need for a family owned packing and marketing company to service local Cherry growers in the southern San Joaquin Valley,” says President Keith Wilson. “Given the alternative of packing at a nearby, modern facility in the early cherry growing districts, growers, and customers will see a value in transportation cost savings, reduced ‘food miles’ and increased freshness by loading cherries at the same location with Stone fruit, Blueberries, and Grapes offered by King Fresh.”
